UT3 Update 2

So I got UT3 finally, installed it, got the game type setup, only to find out the my computer was not powerful enough to run it. Every time I tried to load the Editor, the Game, anything, it pretty much totally crapped out on me and asked me if I wanted to send the information to Microsoft for analysis (I didn't, of course). So I looked around at my other computers. None of mine were strong enough:-{ Which left me in sort of a dilemma. A nice person (thanks Marcus) sent me a copy of his class tree, so I got that at least working (although there were some anomalies that need to be addressed), but I was stuck at that point. No sense in me trying to do something if I can't really test it, is there?

Fortunately, my old T43p from work is being retired this month, so they got me a brand spanking new laptop yesterday, a T61p, which *is* strong enough. So I'm in the process of getting that one set up for work and play (real work, though, I mean it *is* a work computer), re-configure Delphi on it to compile WOTgreal, and finally get UT3 installed on it again.

So no updated version yet (yes, the dev version from way back in march of 2007 is the right one), but I really am working on it. It just doens't help when none of your computers can even run the game.

Good luck on that Harman!! We're all waiting on the edge of our seats!! :D

Verry good news indeed, getting tired of using grep

No worries. I am anxious for it as well, but am working ok with the dev version, even I am compiling manually using the "make" shortcut :)

There are some new packages that should be added to the protected packages list:

ExampleEditor
ExampleGame
GameFramework
OnlineSubsystemGameSpy
OnlineSubsystemLive
OnlineSubsystemPC
UnrealScriptTest
UTEditor
UTGame
UTGameContent

watching for the new release every day. Wish I knew something about this so I could help. Good luck - we're all watching.

It's here! I'm so excited.

where? it's released??
# Posted By dave | 12/18/07 12:12 PM
Sorry. The download page has a dev version dated today, but it doens't appear to have any UT3-related changes.
# Posted By jbizzler | 12/18/07 12:27 PM
It does, but it doesn't. I will have more later on today...

I'm going to need help testing all of this, so please post comments when things don't work.

whatever you need. I'm not much of a programmer but I will let you know when things don't work for sure.

Control-clicking anything other than a local variable yields a WOTgreal was unable to lookup information for "x"

How do I add UT3 stuff to the program?
# Posted By dave | 12/18/07 11:10 PM
There are all sorts of new keywords introduced with UE3. The most notable ones include the 'server' and 'client' replication keywords.

The unrealscript reference is available at http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/UnrealScriptReferen...

If there is a list of currently accepted keywords somewhere i'd be happy to put together a list of the new ones for UE3.

So, any updates on how is the UT3-compatible version going?
# Posted By PaleGrim | 1/5/08 7:03 PM
None of the intellisense stuff seems to work.

i would really really love to see an updated (Unreal engine 3) version of this tool.. then maybe i could persuade my employees to buy it for me.. :D
# Posted By prabhat | 1/8/08 7:51 PM
Yeah - as soon as an updated version comes out, I'm buying it. $25 is more than fair for this awesome tool.

Checking every day ...
i'm going to buy it too when new verion comes out!!!

If it incentives harmeister to get the new version up and running sooner, I'll buy two professional licenses! I'm serious, I need an UT3-compatible IDE for some actual game prototyping projects...

already got one in good faith :-)

It's not a question about money, guys, (although that's most appreciated) it's a question of Time. And my apparent lack of it. The Dev version right now will work for everything in UT3, that I know of. Even compiling. There are some tweaks needed to make it better, but it does work for insight, everything.

the most important thing doesn't work:
pressing Ctrl + klick on a class name doesn't open the class but you get the error:
"WOTgreal was unable to find lookup information for "xyz""
if this error isn't related to the lack of support for ut3 but to my incompetence :-) pls tell me how to fix it.

I can't get compiling to show up correctly because it always adds the -silent to the end of it and I can't find a way to remove it.

Not sure if its always been this way, but just moving my mouse around in WOTGreal causes around 80% CPU usage on 1 core and a good amount on the 2nd.
# Posted By Anthony McCulley | 1/13/08 10:23 PM
finally figured out what was wrong with the darn thing for the hyperlink stuff. This is now fixed. (It really was working on one of my machines...)

As for the -silent stuff, I have not removed that yet. I'll be adding an option sometime today to the game information to turn this kind of stuff off.
# Posted By Dean | 1/16/08 11:41 AM
k... There is now an option in preferences for the compiler to turn off the -silent stuff as well.
