My name is Dean Harmon.  I currently live in Billerica, MA.  It's a little north and west of Boston.  I've been programming since I was about 14 years old or so.   My favorite things to do are program (kind of silly since that's my job too, but what can I say?), read books (favorite authors are Robert Jordan, Terry Brooks, Anne McCaffery, and David Eddings), and play with my kids.  My current favorite series is the Star Wars New Jedi Order series written by a lot of different authors.  I've been happily married to my wife Julia since 1997 and can't really imagine not having her by my side.  I have two children, Jessica and Dallen, who are pretty darn cute. And although I might be a tad bit biased on that part, you can see for yourself.
Jessica is now 3 and a half.  Her current favorite thing to do is play with barbies, and watch the Little Mermaid.  Everytime I want to watch something good on TV, like Smallville or something, she complains that it isn't a "kids show" and she needs to watch a "kids show" (of course, at that point we put her to bed, but she hasn't figured out that part yet).  She is finally getting over mommy clingyness and likes to go places with me.  She is in gymnastics (which she pronounces, "nastics") and bounces around in class like the happy-go-lucky kid she is.

On a positive note, Jessica is becomming less and less attached to her blanket.  Now she carries around a beanie baby cat everywhere (and woe be unto us if we ever lose that thing, as has happened).  The picture on the right is a bit old, but you can see Jessica as Cinderella for halloween.

Dallen is almost two now 21 months old now.  He's a very happy little kid, too.  He is finishing getting in his two year last molar currently and it makes him grumpy, so he doesn't eat, which makes him clingy, which drives Julia and I up the wall.  It's poked through, though, so hopefully in a few more days he will return to "normal".

For halloween this year, Dallen went as a cow.  At least we tried to get him to go as a cow, he didn't want to wear the hat, or leave the house.  Oh well.

Between Jessica and Dallen, Dallen is much more curious.  He seems to be very technically inclined and likes to takes things apart (like remote controls for example).  He's funny, too, when he has something in his hands that he knows he is not supposed to have.  If you call his name at that point he turns around and runs away as fast as he can.  He's a quick little guy, too.
I work at Macromedia, Inc. (formally the Allaire Corporation) in Newton Massachusettes (homepage www.macromedia.com).  It's a great place to work, the best job I've ever had.  I *was* on the Visual Tools team which makes Homesite, ColdFusion Studio, and JRun Studio.  It was actually my work on WOTgreal that helped me to get my job here!   Then they canned almost all of us (of the team of 18, 3 survived).  I salvaged a job on the Release Engineering team doing installer and build work.  Four layoffs after the one in which I was laid off from the Visual Tools team, I'm now supposed to be working exclusively on ColdFusion. However, I end up doing work on all the other projects as well (JRun, Flash Remoting, even Homesite still).  I do mostly Ant, InstallAnywhere, and Java stuff now.  I keep my Delphi and UnrealScript prowess by continually working on and improving WOTgreal.
